Habitat: Varied conditions: very poor soil on hillside in shade of Quercus virginiana, to fair soil in full sun.
Description: Open spindley shrub, 1-3 m tall. Recurved prickles. Leaf has 1-3 pairs of pinnae and each pinna has 4-7 pairs of leaflets 1-2 cm long. Numerous small flowers in creamy-white fuzzy globes, 2 cm across.
