Habitat:
Hill country hillside in rock and stoney soil with some humus and dirt.
Description:
Tree to 10 m. Sheds half leaves in early spring, leaves simple, alternate, evergreen (2 year cycle), to 3 cm long, margins entire or toothed, and revolute. Staminate and pistillate flowers in separate catkins on same tree. Pollen, yellow, plentiful.
