Habitat: Gravelly soil, hillside, east exposure. Full sun.

Description: Sprawling stems from woody root. Small flowers surrounded by maroon sepals which are dominant. Only three true petals. Fruit--burlike. Leaves silky, linear. A perennial. Sparse.
