Goblins In The Garden

Goblins in the Garden at the Wildflower Center 2011

Come celebrate Halloween at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center! The 7th annual Goblins In The Garden event will take place on Sunday, October 27th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Families can dress up in their Halloween finest and bring a camera to take memorable snap shots. Come dressed as a character from nature and join the costume parade through the courtyard at 6:00 p.m. Think butterfly, moth, spider, and ladybug costumes. Be sure to stop by the Wildflower Center Café for hot chocolate and other seasonal beverages and food.

Event Schedule:

4pm – 6pm Keith Graves signs Frank was a Monster in the Store

4pm – 4:30pm J. Jaye smith reads Batty about Texas in the Little House

4:15pm – 4:45pm Travis Audubon Society holds a Scary Bird Walk, starting in the Courtyard

4:30pm – 6pm J. Jaye Smith signs Batty about Texas in the Store

4:30pm – 5pm Chalumeau Clarinet Quartet plays onstage outside the Visitors’ Gallery

5pm – 5:30pm Rebecca Patek (The Roving Fiddler) plays onstage outside the Visitors’ Gallery

5pm – 5:30pm A friendly witch will read a story in the Little House

5:15pm – 5:45pm Travis Audubon Society holds a Scary Bird Walk, starting in the Courtyard

5:30pm – 6pm Chalumeau Clarinet Quartet plays onstage outside the Visitors’ Gallery

5:30pm – 6pm A friendly witch will read a story in the Little House

6pm – 6:30pm Rebecca Patek (The Roving Fiddler) plays onstage outside the Visitors’ Gallery

6pm – 6:30pm Children’s parade in the Courtyard

6:30pm – 7pm A friendly witch will read a story in the Little House

 

All Evening:

  • Follow clues for the ultimate prize in a creepy bat scavenger hunt (starts in the Courtyard)
  • Make snake bracelets and other crafts in the Visitors’ Gallery
  • Take snapshots in our Pumpkin Patch
  • Face painting in the Courtyard
  • Travis Audubon Society will host a bird display in the Visitors’ Gallery where patrons can learn about which animals are hunted by birds
  • Meet our Wandering Arachnonut (spider expert) as he travels our gardens and points out the many spiders living among our flora.
  • Get a glimpse of what the interactive Watering Holes feature will offer that will be in the new Luci Baines Johnson and Ian Turpin Family Garden that will open in 2014.
