Janice Lynn’s interest in photography began when her husband bought his first digital camera. Janice borrowed the camera to take pictures of a few wildflowers on their country acreage. As each new camera was added to the family she felt more at ease with the format and fell in love with the images of flowers, bugs, and butterflies. Her hobby of bird watching was not replaced by photographing flora, but a new hobby grew from a desire to document the wildflowers that grew on their property. After all, wildflowers don’t fly off, and thus are much easier to photograph than birds.

Identifying the wildflowers became much easier with the use of internet images, and her goal is to have a full year of local wildflowers photographically documented. This will be an ongoing project, especially documenting the leaves, growth habits and seeds of the plants, so that the beautiful flowers can be more easily identified. Sharing these images to help others identify their wildflowers would be very satisfying.
