Shot: Close-up of flowers. Photographer's note: "Alabama pitcherplant is considered a subspecies of Sarracenia rubra by some authorities. In recent publications such as: Flora of the Southern and Mid-Atlantic States by Alan S. Weakley www.herbarium.unc.edu/flora.htm it is given species status. Subspecies alabamensis is a very narrow endemic to three or four counties in south-central Alabama. It is listed as Endangered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. "
