The species has been recently located in a couple of swamp sites in west-central Georgia. Both sites may be in the same county, I am not sure. I was mucking around in one of the swamps looking for hybrid pitcher plants and located a single plant of red milkweed. Later I located a second plant in a different area of the swamp. This is one of the rarest milkweed species in Georgia."
