It is has been determined by some to be the same as Heller's blazing star (Liatris helleri) which is listed by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as Threatened. Since U.S.D.A. is still maintaining it as a species, I am also. One or both species are very rare in Georgia and currently known from one site. www.guynesom.com/Liatrishelleri.pdf"
