Original Format: Digital Orientation: Landscape Shot: This plant blankets mulched areas in early spring, particularly when the ground has been moist. It is consistently removed from this residential yard to decrease irritation by the resident dogs which get it stuck to their tongues like Velcro. It roots loosely in mulched areas and is easily removed. Although a traditional concern to ranchers in south Texas (and thus the nickname "chokeweed"), Galium aparine is an intriguing short-lived natural groundcover with tiny white flowers and a unique texture.
