Best Wishes for 2011
The Wildflower Center will be closed December 24 through January 4
All of us at the Lady Bird Wildflower Center wish you the happiest of holidays and send our sincere thanks for all you have done to make 2010 an exceptional year.
What you have done as members, donors and volunteers is truly astounding. You made it possible for us to reach some significant landmarks. For example:
- A gift from an anonymous fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation at the request of Mollie Steves Zachry resulted in funds to construct and maintain our Texas Arboretum.
- Some 162 projects in 34 states and three other countries signed up as pilot projects to test the sustainable landscape rating system developed by our Sustainable Sites Initiative™.
- We banked nearly 800,000 seeds from 79 species for the federal Seeds for Success project and our own uses.
- We advanced Low Impact Development practices in Texas by applying these water quality improvement techniques to our consulting projects and by teaching workshops for local government officials and design professionals.
Those are just a few of 2010's accomplishments. Our gardens are more beautiful than ever—and wait till you see what we have in store for spring.
I have been at the Wildflower Center seven years. Every one of those years has been better than the one before because of your interest and support. On December 22, Lady Bird Johnson would have celebrated her 98th birthday. That's a great occasion for an end-of-the-year, tax deductible gift.
We hope you will keep us in your thoughts and come to see us soon.
