Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: Native plants for free in Hutto, TX
Answered by: Barbara Medford

QUESTION:

We have moved in to a new subdivision and I would like to plant native Texas desert plants and flowers. We will only be in this house for two or three years so I don't want to spend a lot of money. Is there anywhere I can get these plants free?

ANSWER:

Sorry, at this point we know of no organization offering free landscaping plants to the public. If you wish, you might send us a question asking for suggested plants for your particular area that could be fairly low cost.
