Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: Evergreen shrubs for hedge in a Memorial Garden
Answered by: Nan Hampton

Can you recommend some drought tolerant, low maintenance, evergreen shrubs that would be suitable as a hedge for a Memorial Garden? Thank you.

Mr. Smarty Plants has too good candidates for your hedge. They are Ilex vomitoria (yaupon) and Morella cerifera (wax myrtle).
